This is our white cockatoo, Daisy. About 7 or so years ago when we were living in a town called Southbrook near Toowoomba, there was a lot of people clearing their land before a certain law came in prohibiting land clearing. Of course there were many cockatoos nesting in hollow branches etc, and we were offered 5 or 6 baby cockatoos to look after.
One of them had a broken wing or something like that, so we had to give it to an animal care place. We gave two or three of them away to neighbours and friends, and kept two. We named one Rocky and the other Daisy.
A few years ago Rocky was killed by a dog, so now we only have Daisy who features in today’s photograph.
